Ecuaciones Bicuadradas

Resuelve las ecuaciones:

 a) x^4-2-x^2=0
 b) 10x^2+9 = -x^4

SOLUCIÓN

Usaremos el método de las ecuaciones bicuadradas
Hacemos el cambio de variable:
\fbox{x^2=t} con lo cual \fbox{x^4=t^2}

 a) x^4-2-x^2=0
Primero la ordenamos:

x^4-x^2-2=0

Aplicamos el cambio de variable

t^2-t-2=0

Resolvemos la ecuación de 2º grado

\begin{array}{ccc} & & t_1 = \frac{1+3}{2}=2\\ & \nearrow &\\ t=\frac{-(-1)\pm \sqrt{(-1)^2-4 \cdot1\cdot(-2)}}{2 \cdot1}=
 \frac{1\pm \sqrt{9}}{2}& &\\ & \searrow &\\& &t_2 = \frac{1-3}{2}=-1\end{array}

Ahora deshacemos el cambio de variable

x^2=t \longrightarrow x = \pm \sqrt{t}

 Si t=2 \longrightarrow x= \pm \sqrt{2}
 Si t=-1 \longrightarrow x= \pm \sqrt{-1} sin soluciones reales

Las soluciones de la ecuación son \fbox{x=+\sqrt{2}} y \fbox{x=-\sqrt{2}}

 b) 10x^2+9 = -x^4
Primero la ordenamos:

x^4+10x^2+9 = 0

Aplicamos el cambio de variable

t^2+10t+9 = 0

Resolvemos la ecuación de 2º grado

\begin{array}{ccc} & & t_1 = \frac{-10+8}{2}=-1\\ & \nearrow &\\ t=\frac{-10\pm \sqrt{10^2-4 \cdot1\cdot9}}{2 \cdot1}=
 \frac{-10\pm \sqrt{64}}{2}& &\\ & \searrow &\\& &t_2 = \frac{-10-8}{2}=-9\end{array}

Ahora deshacemos el cambio de variable

x^2=t \longrightarrow x = \pm \sqrt{t}

 Si t=-0 \longrightarrow x= \pm \sqrt{-9} sin soluciones reales
 Si t=-1 \longrightarrow x= \pm \sqrt{-1} sin soluciones reales

La ecuación no tiene soluciones reales
